Fun, Food, Fellowship – Flavors!
By Susan Ellis

Flavors of Bedford is prepping for a first-class event this coming November 1 at the Bedford Glen Hotel.  Chefs from all over the area will come together to cook, compete, and serve up some of their best appetizers, entrees, and desserts in tasting portions at tables where attendees can meet, greet, and eat in the company of friends, family, and foodies.  Local musicians will add to the festivities with background music and song.
Local attorney and amateur gastronomist Nat Brown says of the event, “It’s a wonderful opportunity for the town to get together and an opportunity to meet the restaurateurs and food service people who work in the area.”

Key sponsor, Brown says he first began supporting Flavors of Bedford when someone from the Bedford Chamber of Commerce asked years ago.  “I felt that it was an opportunity to share with the town and to help out financially in a community activity,” he says.  “Some people dress up to come.  It’s a lot of fun.”
Last year’s menu attracted hundreds.  This year’s Flavors of Bedford is expected to be even bigger, and to offer even more excitement as chefs face off in a competition for best appetizer, best entrée, and best dessert.  Judges may include members of the famed Chaine des Rotisseurs  gastronomic and culinary organization and several local food lovers.

So come on November 1…for the food, for the fun, but also for the community.  Flavors of Bedford is a major fundraiser for the Bedford Chamber of Commerce, a group that works to maintain and improve the quality of business and home life in Bedford.  Part of this year’s proceeds also go to support Heroes’ Homecoming, who support personnel deployed from Hanscom Air Force Base and their families.  Major sponsorship for Flavors of Bedford is provided by the Law Offices of Brown & Brown, P.C., and the Doubletree Bedford Glen Hotel (a DOLCE-managed property).  Additional sponsorship is provided by Advanced Media Web, Bedford Florist, DSA Printing, Brookline Bank, Middlesex Savings Bank, Cambridge Savings Bank, Carlton & Duran CPAs, Summit Health and Fitness, Great Road Gallery and Framing, Garrison Knight Financial Planning, Representative Charles Murphy,  Diane Cadogan Hughes of the Higgins Group, and Robin Citrano Design.  Tickets cost $35/person; $25 for seniors with discounts available for larger parties.
